Why Essential Soap?
Because it smells wonderful... because
it feels great on your skin... because it's handmade...because it's entirely
natural... because it makes you happy...
What is Essential Soap?
Essential Soaps are hand-crafted, all-natural, 100%
vegetable soaps (except for the animal products milk and honey) that are
scented with pure essential oils. The use of essential oils, rather than
synthetic fragrances, ensures not only that only natural ingredients touch
your skin, but that you experience the aromatherapeutic benefits and skin
benefits of these precious oils. All of the Essential Soaps are high in
soothing olive oil (30%) and are enriched with nourishing shea nut butter
(3%). Essential Soaps are hand-cut and hand-wrapped in Thai papers.
Natural v. synthetic
Natural soaps rely on ingredients found in nature for their skin care qualities. Natural soaps seek to enhance the skin's own remarkable capacity of protecting us and healing itself by providing nourishment, rather than using harsh synthetics. While synthetic soaps rely on factory-made materials to provide consistency, natural soaps often vary slightly from one batch to the next. This is to be expected, as the variation of the natural ingredients, temperature and other conditions can all subtly affect the final bar. Essential Soaps contain grapefruit seed extract as a natural preservative, but are best used within a year and stored away from heat.
About Essential Soap
Essential Soap is the creation of Becky Winkler, who makes each and every bar by hand in her home in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A long time artist, designer and generally crafty gal, Becky became interested in natural health and aromatherapy in her college years. Entirely self-taught, her interest lead to creating essential oil blends for herself, developing soap recipes for gifts and eventially the birth of Essential Soaps. Her mission in making Essential Soaps is to provide a moment of quiet luxury in people's daily lives, while sharing the benefits of aromatherapy and natural ingredients for health. Becky developed her recipes over several months until she was satisfied that the bar of soap she offers is not only incredibly good for your skin, but feels wonderful on the skin, has a pleasant, not perfume-y or overpowering aroma, provides a full lather and is hard enough so that it doesn't quickly melt away in the shower. If you are ever less than completely satisfied with our products, we will gladly issue you a refund. Please email sales(at)essential-soap.com [replace @ for (at)] or phone at 734-730-4221. For the very sensitive
Those with very sensitive skin or allergies may
experience some irritation from the pure essential oils contained in Essential
Soap. Some essential oils may pose more of a threat of irritation than
others. Please see "Our Ingredients" for more on specific essential
oils. Those with very sensitive skin may like to try the Milk & Honey
Essential Soap, as it contains no essential oils or added fragrances.
A word to the wise: a cat lives in the house where Essential Soaps are
